Description: In Quissamã, in the North Fluminense region (Rio de Janeiro), there is a fado (typical Portuguese ballad) that dates back to the times of sugar mills, “big houses” and slave quarters. Its origins are shrouded in mystery. A myth deeply rooted in popular culture claims that “Fado is God!” and that is why it is danced forming crosses. Guitars and tambourines accompany this fado sung and danced, which, sometimes, becomes a challenge.
